I was wondering if you know of any photos of William black street in east Jarrow, it is now the Bede trading estate.

I dont have photos of William Black St where Catherine Cookson once lived. Here below is a drawing of what the street looked like with Swinburne St at the junction. William Black street was the last of the row of 4 streets coming from Jarrow ie Lancaster St, Simonside Tce, Phillipson St & then William Black St the last street before you got to Tyne Dock. (They are the 4 streets in her book)

Thank you, my dad lived there when he was younger. He used to take me visit my grannie every Sunday. I remember the corner shop across from her flat. Always went in back way. Ha Ha.

My great granny lived in Swinburne Street after she was widowed she remarried William Kane and lived in William Black Street x

Amazing drawing. Love the way the artist has captured the image of the tram wire support. I remember they were so very ornate. The drawing cleverly shows it has been raining. That hasn't deterred some smartly dressed chap riding upstairs on the open deck of the tram. How I admire those who can make such pictures.
