Police houses in Heworth and Pelaw

Trying to catch up with the board, been off it for ages, just haven't got time at the moment.

There was a Police House at Heworth.
It was one of those two or three houses built to the left side of the Swan Hotel.

The Police House in Pelaw was the corner house facing the CWS Tailoring Factory.

Both houses are still there, but not Police Houses.

Hi llyn
The pelaw police house was on the top corner I think it was Croxdale/fisherwell a few doors from Dr Schmullian excuse spelling
The other was down the bottom near Wynn gardens where Tommy Lawson lived

You are right Carol, wasn’t Tommy Lawson’s father a policeman? The house on the corner of Croxdale/Fisherwell is quite a big house, thing is this begs the question if these houses are still there where did the houses at Beamish come from?

The answer Liz is simple. The buildings at Beamish are replicas of those in Leam Lane......not the originals removed and rebuilt!

You are right, the original thread by AnneB said they were originals but on rereading the thread again Tina quotes the Chronicle and says they are replicas, I should pay more attention.
