Policing: when need , choosing the most urgent crime

In yesterday’s local newspaper. Multiple Units and Armed Officers Riot Team, rushed to a park to arrest a man for shouting racist abuse in a park in Banbury. Picture of police cars and armed police. This sounds more and more like the thought police.

Malcolm, that is why I panicked when I couldn’t find the article from yesterday. It is just as I said. If someone complains about a racist remark it has to be investigated. “Harriet Harman ‘s law.”. A bit heavy handed, it could be a person with mental health issues.

Jim funny you should mention him as it seems, not surprising, that the BBC have double standards as the actor from Eastenders, I think his name is Jamie Borthwick used the same word but just received a suspension.

The BBC boss Tim Davies has been given a £20,000 rise in his salary. Whatever would his earnings be if he was good at his job.
£20,000 extra for failing. .

Unfortunately that’s the way things are these days, the chap in charge of Border Force received a huge bonus not long ago, must be for defending our Borders!!!

Not to beat about the bush here, but I am told that he used the word "Nigger" at a late night drunken bash, singing along to a song that contained that word (that has been subsequently changed) EIGHT years ago....

For Christ's sake!!!!

Short story...A customer of mine (whilst I had a pub) went to South Africa, married a Lady, and brought her back to the UK

She was highly amused that we couldn't use that word, yet she, and her friends used it freely, in two contexts:

a) someone that was idle or lazy

b) a dear friend..

So she freely admitted that, if she came up to my bar, and I greeted her with "Hey, Nigger, how are you tonight, what can I get for you?" She would be highly pleased......

Go figure....

Malcolm, I believe black rap “singer” use the word all the time. For some reason, I think they wanted to get rid of him, they have said it should be more diverse. We will have to see who gets his job. It might just be speculation.

That’s the point Malcolm this lady that you are talking about is not offended at all, she sees the remark as a compliment, banter even, you usually only tease people you like but, somewhere at some stage someone will decide that the remark is offensive to the lady despite the fact she is not offended, complaint made then hey presto someone is arrested.

The way things are in the UK at the moment I am so glad I am no longer part of the work force, always someone ready to complain on someone else’s behalf.

The government must be paying them well, because they must know the Hotel will need a refit when they move on. It will have lost any “Stars” it had earned in the past.
