Maturity

I am losing my agility
As I approach senility
So I must increase activity
To tackle my obesity
It would be a calamity
If I should lose mobility
It would be an atrocity
If I should lose velocity

To lessen my rigidity
Will be my first priority
I’ll pursue this with tenacity
Till I reach full capacity
By tempering voracity
And turning down rapacity
Treating others with asperity
If my antics cause hilarity

Then with due humility
With vigour and virility
I can party with impunity
And savour my maturity

Old age seemingly always comes at a bad time. However, we shouldn't let it us down. It’s too darn difficult to get back up again. One solution may be to die young but to leave that event for as long as possible. George(Burns) at the age of 100 said " It was nice to be here". I'm 88 and find it nice to be anywhere. I'm sure reading your lovely poems will help - if only I could find my damn glasses.

I looked up some of Tom Lehrers
Performances on the net.Great talent
Some years ago, just for a bit of fun
I wrote a poem where the majority
of wording began with the letter P
It was always one of my favourites
Quite by chance when browsing
I came across a poem
by someone else who had done the same
using a similar format years before me
To my great relief
Our poems were completely different
