Allotments and the wind

Spent the afternoon at the allotment, luckily no damage but there was damage to greenhouses and polytunnels across the site,a couple of us have being repairing and helping to clear up. Myself and another lad concentrated on the polytunnels, a couple of others on the greenhouses. We've repaired door frames, fixed tears, secured covers and made frames safe, more strong winds due over the next couple of days, hopefully we won't have to repeat 0our actions any more this week

The North East got of relatively light, West of Scotland took the brunt of it.

Well, I am on the west coast of Scotland...and....NAE problem!

A bit of gusty wind, with bright sunshine..at one point, jacket off, sleeves rolled up, it was THAT warm...

But I know, just 30 miles north took a battering...

But no trees down locally, greenhouse & buildings intact.... PHEW

Filming of the latest "Spiderman" continues, with the city centre closed off for the filming, made to look like New York..

What a boost to the economy, several major films have been set there.....

Who would have thought it....

The superhero films seem to like it Batman looked good in Glasgow.

Yes, Brian. I just think that it's brilliant that these major films are made in Glasgow, rather than say, New York, or some Hollywood film set.

You sound like you were lucky Malcolm especially as 30 miles up the coast like you said it took a battering.

We were lucky, Brian. In the last big storm. a couple of years ago, we had about seven trees come down. Not a major loss, as we have hundreds, and they fuel the log burner....

And as they say, a fallen tree heats you twice: Firstly when you log it, and secondly when you burn it!
