Little trivia,.who remember,s Marshals little shop on Whickham Road corner, remember buying my tupenny woodbine before going to school, Mr Marshall would call them coffin nails.

Yes - I remember it well. It was opposite the entrance to the Newtown School. They had a son called Malcolm who I think was in the same year as me at the school.

Ye Harmers was further up on the corner between station Rd and Whickham Rd.

Marshall was Bertha and Harmer was Norman. Harmer was Bob Hudson's drinking mate in the Newcastle Arms.

I went to Hebburn Tech 1960 and remember Malcolm Marshall was in my class. He lived in North Farm Rd .

You are right Norman - The Marshals son was Alfie and yes Malcolm lived in North Farm Road - I lived in Kent Avenue just off North Farm Road.
