What is a BILLION? specially for our MPs

I have said this before, I dont think MP's have a CLUE what a billion is so here are some brilliant examples to help understand.

Norman, it’s us the tax payer who provides it, so it doesn’t matter. The last time I remember an MP trying to save the tax payers cash was Mrs Thatcher. .

Unfortunately we haven’t had a PM like her since, she always put Britain first pity other PMs haven’t done so since.

Unfortunately today's politicians of all stripes are much more interested in enriching themselves than in doing good for the country.

Love or hate her policies, Mrs. Thatcher was part of the old school of politicians where public service came first, not personal gain.

Something incorrect with the maths ,in one statement a billion seconds is 66 years in another it is 31 years, I think 31 years is nearer or am I missing something?

I have just googled 'what is 1 Billion seconds in years' and the answer confirmed it is 31 years.
