Invisible chains still bind me To the place where I was born Though the streets are no more Many friends are long gone Fond memories linger galore
Times were different then Want,hardship,and bleak Difficult days,fearful nights Rations to eke out the week
Housewives who paused From their labours To have a quick chat With their neighbours
Now I count up the cost Of what we have lost Since those days, so long ago Communities,steadfast and united Britain refused to be blighted
