Its sunny here so we are off to Saltwell Park

What a brilliant Park this was for a day out & it wasn't far to travel for Hebburn & neighbouring towns people and totally free unless you went on the boats.

The two rental guys were working there one day...

One hold up his megaphone, and says; "Come in number 81, your time is up"

His mate says; "Number 81? We only have 30 boats"

First guys thinks for a second, and says; "Are you in trouble, number 18......

Saltwell Park remains a beautiful tranquil place. Gateshead is my old home town and hasn't much going for it. The High Street is no more, two of the bridges it depends upon are bust. Another is doubtful and the flyover is being demolished. The riverside has some life and the Shipley Art Gallery is always worth a visit. One place for sure not to disappoint is Saltwell Park. Probably as good now as it has ever been. Thanks for the lovely photo Norman.

What a well loved Park it is George.

And having all those volunteer friends caring for it is a marvellous help for the Council.
We had a Gateshead Foster Child with learning difficulties and he went there for Job experience with the park staff. After a week I went to speak to the men and they said if it rains a bit he won't come out of the hut
