My laptop went off after a Windows update yesterday. I tried allsorts afterwards and felt Windows had hi-jacked it as I couldn't do anything on it. KEN WOOD in Pelaw came to my rescue today and is busy trying to sort it out for me which could be days. Apparently this Windows update has caused many similar problems. I am on my mobile phone to type this post thanks to Windows killing my computer...

You would have thought that Windows would test these things first?
That's funny Liz! You would think so. Apple is the same. It seems like every time I go to add something to my iPod they've changed something and I have to google it or YouTube it to find out how. They've now discontinued them sadly. I love the way the iPod works with the files so I'm hanging on till it croaks

Thanks, Norman, the Windows 11 updates have indeed caused lots of problems, far too many for me to list. The NVME SSD M.2 (NVMe, which stands for Non-Volatile Memory Express) is a high-speed communication protocol and interface designed specifically for flash memory-based Solid State Drives (SSDs). It utilises the PCI Express (PCIe) bus to bypass traditional bottlenecks of older protocols like SATA, enabling significantly faster read/write speeds, lower latency, and superior performance for demanding applications) was extracted and the system cleaned, fans, and GPU repasted with "Thermal Paste", but sadly the Nvme needed even more help, as it was only a 256GB HDD (Hard Drive)I then asked Norman if was it ok to purchase a new 1 TB (Terabyte, a unit of information equal to one million million (1012) or, strictly, 240 bytes) and an external encloser to hold the old NVME after I gave it CPR) the is encloser would be used as a back-up system if ever it happened again. Norman's laptop was not litterally rebuilt to the best I could of my inderstanding it was now installed with a new Windows 11 and the updates on a restricted basis. The restoration was now completed, with a few more minor tinkering, and the laptop will last a little longer with a vast area for storage, with the confidence of that spare encloser with its only hard drive as a back-up. All is well in the world (I wish). Thanks, Norman, for allowing me to help hope it is stil working, and please continue with this great site. Ken Wood
