A load of tripe

An old photograph showing the premises of J. & R. P. Chipchase, Tripe Preparers, Queen Street, South Shields in circa 1940's. Does anyone still eat tripe?

Never ate trip except when given some as a kid and that probably once. I don’t think I even had a mouthful

Horrible horrible enough to make you sick even the thought of it.

Notice the lady next door getting right into the corner of her step, can you imagine anyone doing that nowadays.

I remember one of my very first domestic science classes at Clegwell we had to cook tripe with milk, butter salt and pepper in the oven, we were told it was good for invalids!!! My late mum loved tripe and trotters, not for me though.

I remember my mam telling me that her father liked to eat tripe cooked in milk.

Here in California, the more traditional-style Mexican restaurants will often serve tripe. I think it is quite popular with the Mexican community.

I'm fine with Tripe the way the frogs do it (it appears on lots of menus there). Re Trotters; in my working days my French hosts took me to a b***** expensive upmarket restaurant in Paris "Au Pied de Cochon" where it is their specialty. They were OK but I wouldn't have them again. The French waiter however was astonished when an English bloke ordered them thinking that I didn't understand what I was getting.
