A very busy Northumberland St in 1940. This street was part of the A1 London to Edinburgh Rd in those days.

What’s noticeable in the photo.

Just look at the width of the 2 cars on the tram track, the one behind them against the one on the right.

Wonder if you put a modern car in that lot would it be wider than that on the right.

The tram waiting stop out in the road!
