I worked in various parts of the factory Colin. Such as the Tool Room, Saw Shop, Foundry (maintenance work during holidays) and the Heavy Fitting Shop. Started in 1953 and left in 1967. I was in the Heavy Fitting Shop from 1962 until I left. Worked mostly constant nightshift with Joe Brayson. Also travelled to install lathes, planes, and milling machines.

I also did the shutdown work mainly servicing the cranes and the boiler - when I was servicing the foundry crane I fancied a cup of tea so I found a teapot and prised the lid off only to find a many-times boiled mouse - - I didn't bother with tea. I spent the last 5 years travelling for nobles servicing and repairing lathes and plano-Mills-a good job but poor pay
