Deliveries

Is it me or are home deliveries getting worse? I have ordered from Amazon first years, usually extremely good delivery service, however it seems as though Sellers are now using cheaper delivery companies resulting in very poor service to nine delivery.
Last night at about 6:45 an email arrived advising that the ‘wonderful’ delivery service Evri had attempted to deliver a package but were unable to do so as my drive was blocked, totally untrue my driveway is about 150 yards long, so the message was delivery attempt failed. Give Amazon their due, I emailed them to complain, they immediately offered me a Gift Card if £10. Can yo7 believe it whilst I was emailing Amazon another email arrived, again from Evri, advising that at 6:53 they had delivered a package to my back door under the porch, i don’t have a back door that is accessible from the front if my house, I don’t have a porch, my husband checked to see if anything had been delivered, nothing, so back onto Amazon.
Following my exchange with Amazon I emailed my immediate neighbours to ask if in the morning they could check, a neighbour checked more or less immediately and said my package had been delivered to their house.
The thing I find amazing was - was it 2 Evri drivers delivering within the space of 10 mins as if so one if the drivers must have had to reverse quite a distance down a single track road in order to allow the other to pass, or was it 1 driver who was totally useless, I think the 2nd option fits the bill, in any event only one parcel has been received heaven only knows when the other will arrive. Oh just a thought maybe if it were 2 Evri drivers trying to deliver it could explain the supposed blocked driveway - an Evri van blocking another Evri van!!!
I wonder if anyone else encounters this kind of thing?

Don't start me with EVRI; worse than useless.
2 years ago, I ordered a car battery. VERY heavy.
Twice they said "unable to deliver".
On the 3rd attempt, they said "Delivered"!
I live in a rural area (Just 5 houses along a 2-mile lane)
The "delivery" was made to the front door of a house a mile away.
The driver had climbed a solid wood, locked, SIX foot high gate, and left it by the front door!
Goodness knows how he managed that, carrying the battery!

That’s funny Malcolm but so annoying for you, Evri are so useless.
I ordered some shoes, I was told they had been delivered, like you I live in a very rural area, my husband tramped around the few houses checking to see if there had been a delivery, couldn’t find anything. I asked for a photo of the delivery, which I received, it was process of elimination, the photo showed a back door with grippers either side, haha only one elderly person needing grippers sprung to mind, my husband visited the house, sure enough round the back, well out of sight, was my shoes. The delivery van had driven about a mile down a single track road, turned into a drive way which must be about 250 yards, then parked in front of a rather large house, with a front door, but fir some reason went round the back to leave my shoes,, I have to say that all properties in my area, there aren’t many, clearly have the house names at the driveways etc, I just don’t know what goes through the minds, if they have one!!

Liz, Evri are the worst delivery company around, they don't even ring the bell or knock at your front door now. I have been at home many times when a parcel has been left at the front door or in the bin area or at a neighbour's house.

Liz, only yesterday I was expecting a delivery from M & S. I check to see when it would arrived and the message from Evri said delivered. I opened the front door and there it was. I don’t know how long it had been there, No way did the knock or ring the bell. They are a dreadful delivery company, I don’t know why any business uses them.

We live up a country lane from village, only half a mile. We’ve found parcels in all sorts of places. Yes, I would say more recently. The worst was half way up, right on the lane at a neighbour’s side gate, with people and cars passing regularly. Luckily a neighbour spotted it. It’s often quite a skill trying to figure out where it might be by looking at the photo.
