Carol , ours was £70.00 last year so expecting a heavy rise this year.

I would see if there's a community composting scheme in the area, got to be cheaper.

Errrr No, Scotland is a bargain.

All four recycling bins are included within our council tax.
1 X plastic & tins, 1 X paper/cardboard, 1 X General, and 1 for garden waste.

We don't pay an extra fee, for garden waste!

Said it before, you are all being ripped off. Or is it just your Council in particular?

I agree with you Malcolm.
Why do they charge us to take away garden waste which will be composted and then used to benefit the land.

Liverpool has decided to issue us another bin for food waste only. Already our bins must be near the kerb with handle facing the road and lid fully closed. If not, no collection! And the

Just put your garden waste into a Black Bin bag and put in bin with other waste !

I have to say that Herefordshire Council provide an excellent bin collection service, we only have 2 bins one is black the other is green, they get collected in alternate weeks.

I guess we are luck we have a big enough garden whereby garden waste can be burned so no waste collection is needed, I hope that this situation continues unless some idiot chance in Council Leadership or policy - give it time though.

Malcolm, Scotland will continue to be bargain, thanks to English taxes and Tony Blair's Devolution. I’ve read that there is now thoughts devolution was not a good idea, also the Welsh Assembly. Before Devolution Scotland had the best schools and education, sadly thats not the case now. Mr Blair was told by Scottish ministers , giving Scotland Devolution would stop the Scottish Nationals, but sadly that was not the case.

I was thinking how each council have different number of bins, all different colours at different councils. We have three bins and a food caddy. Brown bin for garden waste, grey/black bin for landfill
and green bin for recycling. The food caddy is emptied weekly, the others alternate weeks.

What are we going to do with our rubbish when quarries are all full?
We had incinerators for a short while but they were causing pollution so we demolished them.
We need them back but with filters to stop polluting the atmosphere.
LANDFILL causes big problems with seepage into our streams and rivers.

Norman, research into burning waste for heat was popular for a while. I sure some councils in the south have incinerators that produce heat for some industries and homes.
