End of the week header a bit earlier

Here is end of the week header but as I'm a bit impatient I thought I'd treat you sooner.

The photo is brilliant! St. I have studied the history of the church and it is very rich in detail. St.Thomas was canonised in 1173. It was designed by John Dobson and built around 1827 costing £6,000 to build. Well worth a read!

According to my school master (a long time ago), the church was built using flying buttresses which was not a regular happening at that time. Maybe Stan Wears may know?

Tom, there are 2 flying buttresses at the front of the building because Dobson added extra stonework. However, there are 6 standard Early English (solid) ones down each side of the nave. and it is true that the flying ones were rarely used in favour of the standard ones. Hope this helps Tom..

At St.Thomas's the flying buttresses act like sabelisers on a bike and Dobson went a bit daft with the height of the tower!
