Another History lesson for our 'Jarrow Neighbours'

As usual I've added locations to the 1953 aerial view of Jarrow.
Can my regulars remember my true story about the German Bomber that missed the Tyne Bridges & hit the 'Spillers Flour Mills' in WW2? & then flew low over the Tyne passed Hebburn & tried to bomb 'Shell Mex' oil tanks in Jarrow, missed and hit Queens Rd & Dunn St school. This aerial view. shows the Jarrow target not long after WW2.

One of my favourite photos have seen before was born 142 high street where the D is where I was born 1946 really special to see again thanks Norman.

My childhood 'stomping ground'. I would have been deeply entrenched in a deep hole in the ground alias our air raid shelter. It was built by my Dad and had bunk beds in it. Born 1939 !!! Just in time for all the action.

WOW Elizabeth. One of the few people left that went through that.. along with my eldest brother Donnie Scott/Kirtley from Arthur Street.
He was born in Dec 1938.

It was a unique and traumatic experienceA work colleague asked me about it and I wrote her a poem which began " Sirens shattered the silence of the night!"
