It's amazing how huge the Slag Heap was!

Where is Campbell Park Road on this photograph?

Campbell Park Rd was what we called 'The New Road' when we moved from Lyon St to the new Windermere Cres estate 1953. So it wasn't created when this photo was taken but it passed just 50yds or so over from the edge of the first lake I marked.

Thanks Norman. I know I've said it before, but it's amazing to see how much of Hebburn was just fields even relatively recently.

Jean Clubbs and I used to climb the slag heap on a Tuesday and enjoy ourselves swearing. That was our swear day .We wouldn't dream of swearing any other time!!!
