Royal Family

Posted by Mac Hardy on 21/3/2026, 10:50 am

I read another member of the Royal Family, Prince Edward, has brought it into disrepute by letting out his stables on the property for which he pays a peppercorn rent subsidised by tax payers for £130,000, this disgusts me as an 86 year old pensioner still paying income tax to support the likes of him, pure greed.

What is public opinion like as far as the Royals goes these days? I can’t imagine it is too good after everything with Andrew. Also with Harry defecting a couple of years ago and releasing his memoirs etc.

You’d think they would have the sense to keep their heads down and noses clean as I would imagine people aren’t too enamoured with them these days.

It seems that none of the current crop inspire the respect and affection that everyone had for Queen Elizabeth. I shudder to imagine what she would have thought of all this.

Can't speak for the general public, but from my point of view, still have total respect for King Charles (still keep thinking of him as Prince Charles) Princess Ann, of course, and Prince William & Kate.... old school, I guess!

Have to agree with you Malcolm we must always keep the Royal Family without them we would end up with a President, the thought of that sends shivers through my body, imagine TB as President ???

We know about these things now because everything is more transparent. It could well have gone on with past royals but as the press was the papers or the radio it was much more controlled.
