I like to look for Hebburn in Newspapers here and there. This one came up and I hadn’t thought of it before

That's an interesting story from the Gazette Jackie.
I remember a Blindburn St lad Len Stephenson, a board regular on Mike Ellison's old site years ago lived in Canada. He'd been evacuated there in WW2 and after the war came back to Hebburn. BUT he must have fell in love with Canada cos he returned to live there years later.

The ship was Duchess of York - Liverpool to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Sailed 10th August 1940

I see there was a G Roberts among evacuees to Canada in 1940.
I wonder if any relation to our board regular Gerry Roberts?
