NHS

Posted by Thomas Buglass on 25/3/2026, 8:32 am

Watching Wes Streeting on BBC Breakfast this morning and what a load of CRAP he was spitting out. He’s over the moon of all the improvements that have been made since he’s been in charge, even though only 16% of the public think it’s improved. It certainly hasn’t changed in eyes. I’m nearly 76 and it’s harder now trying to get an appointment to see a doctor face to face than what it was 5 years ago. You have to either have to phone your surgery 8am in the morning or do a E consult which is very confusing for older people. I wonder what planet the government are living on.

All GP's Surgery's in the UK should be run the same as any other UK business, meaning the Patient personally pays them for the 'service' they've had off the GP via a personal NHS Debit Card they would have been issued with by Government.(ie a Medical Card)
Paying GP Practises automatically for the number of patients they have on their books is the big problem.
For most of my 70 + years, I rarely visited a Doctor, BUT my GP Practise was still being paid because I was 'on their books'.
This would definitely solve the Problem! but would any Government be brave enough to implement it?

I wonder when these organisations get it through their thick heads that many elderly people have no access or don’t understand computer systems !

I was in my GP surgery on Monday there were only 2 other people in the waiting area, I find it strange they are creating more consulting rooms, why I really don’t know, as has been mentioned it is usually call backs not face to face appointments, I am sure at some stage all will be made clear to us all what is happening!!!

Evertime Ive been to the Docs the place is empty.
I went there one time & asked for an appointment & was told I have to do it online.
How disgraceful is that?

It's a nightmare.
I have now given up on the NHS and routinely pay for hospital treatment.
I begrudge having to do so. Fortunately I can pay and on the bright side it means less left for HMRC to get their hands on when I pop my clogs.

Like you Mac we are resigned to the fact that we will probably have to pay for treatment at some stage in the future, very annoying when we have worked all of our lives, we have never claimed one penny, we have paid and still are paying taxes, yet people who have contributed absolutely nothing get immediate treatment, it makes my blood boil, I am just thankful that we are in a position to be able to pay should the need arise.

If you believe everything that is being said about Newcastle players being ‘poached’ then I think next season will consist of a whole new team.

Tonali should remember Newcastle stood by him when he was banned for 10 months, no loyalty these days, it’s all about money.

Its Tonali's agent stirring the brown stuff. He's looking for another payday.

For Liz

Spot on Liz. There is so much unfounded speculation.
I was surprised that Tonali made a recovery to represent Italy. But hey ho!!

And can to blame these players for being tempted by £20m a year to kick an inflated pig's bladder around from and their Agent will pick up 5-10% too!

I would like Bruno, Tonali and others to stay but....whatever!!

Just been reading that Isak thinks another move would be nice, he is looking at Barcelona, where does this man get his ideas from??

Going back to speculation, it will be interesting to see who moves and who stays at Newcastle, also who will be brought in, something to look forward to!!!
