Here are 2 views of the same stretch of Askew Rd Gateshead a road I regularly use returning from the brilliant Metro Centre.

So many houses were knocked down in the late 50’s and 60’s, the area in Gateshead that was known as the Teams was more or less totally demolished, I guess it was what was known as progress??
