I was trying to find a BBC 'Songs of Praise' programme from St Pauls Church when Harry Secombe presented it & found this one instead.

Interesting Norman to see how much it has dwindled over the years. Jimmy Guy the verger and I went hunting for the monastery stones that had gone missing. Hey presto after a long drag we found a lot in the cemetery wall and also the Tyne Commission Quay wall at Tyne Dock !....

Struck me at how well dressed the churchgoers were, must have come from the posher part of jarrow either that or bussed in from a more affluent part of the country, (only a thought).

Just watching the Pilgrims on there way to Holy Island .very good enjoyed St Paul's church .

I notice that the organist was Syd Harrison - teacher at the Newtown.
