The 'King Edward 7th' Bridge over the Tyne.

This Newcastle railway bridge was named the 'King Edward 7th' bridge after this King below. WHY?
Have we always been stupid in the UK
Edward 7th reigned from 1901 to 1910 & was nicknamed 'Dirty Bertie' during his long tenure as the Prince of Wales due to his scandalous, hedonistic and sexually active lifestyle.He was a serial womanizer and had at least 55 affairs with actresses,aristocrats & prostitutes & had his own dedicated room in a Paris Brothel.
Our Queen Consort Camilla's great gran Alice Keppel was a Aristocrat and she was a mistress of Dirty Bertie.

Unfortunately, people in positions of great wealth and power quite often seem to be this way inclined.

Just think of the current examples in both the UK and the US.

I'm surprised the Geordies didnt nickname it 'The Dirty Bertie Bridge'.
Note Camilla was a mistress like her great grannie and ruined poor Diana's marriage to Charles?.

Opened 1906 and took 4 yrs to construct. Total length just over 1000 ft! Great for the railways...
