This lovely photo was taken just over 100 years ago. Ive added some history on it.
Its a long time since I last went to the end of of it

Love this photo. To the left, a sail boat, and a steam powered tug? Spewing smoke, and the tracks along the pier... for a tram?

Ye they had the brains to keep it in good condition in them days, been closed now for nearly two year, probably they'll give you the same reason lack of money, (makes you wonder just where the moneys going).

The tracks along the Pier were only there for the Crane to travel on Malcolm. No Tramcars used those rails.

OK. So I am trying to get my head around this. The council have closed the pier?

On what grounds? Too close to the sea? Or what?

I rarely get angry....but, I'll leave it for another day......and a different post. G'night, Joseph.

The pier is private ground and has been closed by The Port of Tyne, not STC.
