Bill Quay slideshow

I did this slideshow (it is silent) of Bill Quay our neigbouring town quite a few years ago.
Take a look and hopefully enjoy it.When I was young living in Lyon St us kids often walked along the riverside to the coal staiths you will see on it.

Brought back quite a lot of memories, I used to go to the Methodist Church when I was quite young, it was funny but if your family went to the Methodist Church it was a well known fact that you got better pieces of meat from J Sharp Butchers as that family were all Methodists.

I note the photo of Nancy Simpson, she was a teacher of mine when I went to Bill Quay infants school, I visited her a few times when I was visiting my late mum, I last saw her a couple of years before she passed away.

Hi Liz I started Bill Quay school in Miss Simpsons class after leaving Hebburn Newtown but I cant find what year.
How old were you when you were in her class.???

My family lived in Coxon St Bill Quay until the prefabs in Wardley were built. I saw several Wardley children in the class photos as after Wardley school they walked to Bill Quay. I went there for cookery class, we all walked carrying our baskets. Sharps butchers delivered meat to Wardley the Sunday”joint” Thanks Norman enjoyed the sideshow.
