A nice view taken at the South Shields Lighthouse in the 1930s. Those people probably didn't realise that not many years later WW2 would begin.

At a guess the guy in the white topped cap is probably the Lighthouse Keeper when such a position existed!

That looks like a steam collier entering the mouth. My dad was engineer on one of those during the war, tyneside to Battersey power station.
