As usual I've added a bit of History to the photo. What a marvellous thing Mr Reyrolle did for not just Hebburn people but for all the neighbouring towns people as well. As Ive said on the photo Reyrolles employed thousands of workers .
Sadly

Mr Alphonse Reyrolle or Mr Henry Clothier who took over after his death have never been commemorated. Hopefully that might be addressed one day.
PS My father Billy Dunn worked there for 48 years in the machine shop.

Even in the 1990's, when I worked in an engineering factory in Sheffield, the shop floor "old school" guys always wore a tie. Despite the fact they were wearing overalls & safety boots!

I always wear a tie everyday, but here in Liverpool people ask what time I'm due in court!

LOL Stan.
I wore a tie every day for 20 years (RAF)
Then tie, + tie clip & cuff links for the next 10 years. (Civilian engineering)
Then the same for another 15 years,(Pub Landlord)
Now? Not; scruffs, caring for multiple dogs/cats.

Open necked shirt or a tie a tie wins anytime for me .Just a smart look .
