A nice sunny header of the local swimming pool

This lovely photo shows the water filled clay pits off Mill Lane with the long gone Coke Works in the distance.As you can see there are young people using it for swimming in probably because Hebburn Lakes had been drained.

In the late 50's, Dave Waddilove used to catch newts in there as him and Gerry Roberts found an injured owl. Dave wanted to be a vet and was known as Proff Waddilove. Gerry put the owl in my saddle bag on my bike till after school ! Remember that Gerry ?!!!
