Work has started on old Hawthorn Leslies site
Could get a bit clarty up Ellison Street in the winter time.

Great photos as usual Ian.
Kelly's Wharf sounds a nice name.
Sir John Kelly was from Hampshire & had no links to Hebburn..
He was the Commander of the Fleet WW2 and why HMS Kelly was named after him
Kelly and Mountbatten are already well used in Hebburn so could they not think of a different name?

Good pictures but so sad, I served my apprenticeship as an Electrician in Hawthorne Leslies before joining the Merchant Navy as an Electrical Officer. Returned later as an Electrician Marker Off before leaving again and returning as a Manager years later. Spent many happy days there and made many good friends !

I agree with others that its sad that so much of Hebburn's industrial past is disappearing and might eventually be forgotten.

I do remember seeing some renderings of what the new development in this area is supposed to look like and I remember it being quite nice.
