An old undated advertising postcard from the Tyne General Ferry Company. The ferry company operated between 1862 and 1908 and ran between Elswick and South Shields with 21 stops on the way. The postcard shows the ferry May which was built at the companies own building yard at St. Peter's, Newcastle in 1891 coming into the South Shields landing on the south pier.
