Its such a pity world leaders dont listen to the lovely lyrics in John Lennon's song 'Imagine'.
Great advice from John who wrote it.
As has been said many times Talk Talk is better than War War.

Norman, it was suggested it was a political message and communist ideology.

John Lennon described it as a Communist Manifesto.
I wonder who would keep everyone in Line.

So interesting to read people's different responses to these lyrics! Like all great songs, it is open to a lot of interpretations.

I think what John was saying was that if we took away all the things that divide us, like allegiances to different nations and religions, desire for heaven, fear of hell, lust for possessions etc., and realised that all we really have is the here and now, how differently we might live our lives and how differently we might treat each other.

A beautiful, timeless song!

John later gave credit to his wife Yoko Ono for the lyrics, taken from her book grapefruit. John himself described it as a communist manifesto dressed up in a pleasant melody. Not my thoughts just saying what was written about it at the time.

We used "Imagine" in the finale of one of the operettas I put on at Work. It was for International and local students. Our guitarist played it and slowly all members of the audience came on stage and joined in the "swaying". It was so powerful.
