Scams galore!

Posted by Stan Wears on 5/11/2026, 10:45 am

Between 9am and 11am this morning, we have had 7 scam calls, ranging from the proverbial Amazon one to the car finance refund, bank security saying someone using your card etc. I find the best way to deal with them is say " This call is being recorded" and they hang up if live. Works every time. The pre recorded I just Delete and check the number to bar that number. Anyone else getting showered with calls?

I get lots of Scam calls on my mobile phone Stan and most times I get a warning that its a scam so ignore it.
Then I ban and report it. But they just come back using new numbers.
Whichever Company gives out new numbers is as bad as the scammers because they should wonder why do these people change phone numbers so often👎👎

I've had dozens of calls on my mobile, recorded announcements in an American accent regarding immigration, then it goes into Chinese. It's always an 11 digit number which I block but they ring again with a different number. I have registered my mobile number with the TPS and most have stopped. I now dont get so many. It got to a stage where I didn't answer the phone if I didn't recognise the number but I was missing genuine customer calls.

I had a call recently which I inadvertently answered,..... I know, my bad, but I wasn't thinking, The reference was The Company I used to work for ( I'm retired ) and an accident almost 4 years ago..... The voice didn't sound professional, and when I mentioned contacting the ""Fraud Squad"" they suddenly hung up.
