ANYTIME FRUIT CAKE
1 egg
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
butter the size of 2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. seeded raisins
1 1/2 c. water
Boil raisins in the water for 5 minutes. Allow to cool. Cream butter, sugar and egg; add flour gradually alternating with raisin water and raisins. Add cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon baking soda.
When preparing pans, put brown paper greased on both sides in the bottom of the pans. Grease and flour sides as usual. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. You may add cut up citrus fruits well-floured and any kind of nuts. Double the recipe for the holidays.
