1/2 cup butter (or substitute by all-vegetable Crisco
1 1/2 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 generous tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In a medium bowl, mix butter (Crisco) and sugar; Set aside.
In a larger bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, salt and cinnamon.
Tip: Cinnamon is the key ingredient to this delicious treat. Use a lot and even sneak a fourth of a teaspoon if you want. Just don't overuse it!
Add the flour mix into the butter-sugar mix slowly. Beat in egg.
Roll out dough balls on a floured work area. Roll them about one inch thick. Place them two inches apart on a greased cookie pan. (Other than greasing it, you can lay wax paper or aluminum foil.)
Bake for ten to twelve minutes.
Makes 48 cookies.
