Much of professional sports is far out of control.
Some of college sports isn't far behind. College coaches are by far the highest paid faculty, and schools justify that on exposure the school gets from its football and basketball programs. Sometimes their lowest paid assistants earn more than college's most respected faculty in other fields.
Pro teams and owners held host cities ransom too long. Don't do as they wish, and they leave for another market. Oakland to LA to Oakland and Las Vegas for example.
Denver Broncos (Pat Bowlen) got taxpayers to pay for their new stadium, then named it for an insurance company who went belly up. We call it The Diaphragm, and Bowlen [sic] died hating that name. Good!
