Unfortunately, when one buys a car or a house or some other large item, then one has to deal with a salesperson. It is possible to do it on-line these days, but I want to see it in person. Dealing with sales people is part of the price of buying the item sometimes. But, if one wants the item, it is unfortunately a necessary evil sometimes.

Discussing religion is different. If it is unsolicited and one isn't interested, then walk away. No response is required. However, if one starts the conversation, then it is hard to claim that that someone else is pushing religion. By religion, I mean, Jesus Christ, Climate Change, Immigration, Evolution, Abortion, and Politics. All of these are god to some people. They put them foremost in their lives and attempt to bring others over to their side. And it could be thought of as pushing their "religion" on folks, just the same as what Christians do when they share Christ. Again, there is no shame in walking away or not responding.
