Most of the poor are poor through decisions that THEY have made. And I don't just mean being addicted to drugs or alcohol or having a mental illness.
Some people have no ambition. They want an easy life.
My wife has four children by a previous marriage. I have two.
Two of our daughters went to college and became Registered Nurses. They are HARD workers. And they married men who are also HARD workers. Both daughters own homes. And they work hard to maintain them.
One of her sons went to college and became a Doctor. He works HARD. And he married a woman who went to college and became a Civil Engineer. She works HARD. They own a Condo and work hard to maintain it.
One of her daughters went to college and...well, actually, I don't know WHAT she became. Ha! She works hard as a stay-at-home Mom with four kids. She married a guy who went to college and became a Medical Equipment Salesman. They own a home and both work HARD to maintain it.
My wife has a son who spent three years in the Air Force, went to college, and got a degree in Mental Health. With that kind of resume', he SHOULD be successful. But he's lazy, always looks for the easy way, is addicted to video games, rents a room from friends, and sleeps on a mattress on the floor. He makes money jumping from job to job to job, and driving Uber Eats.
There's no WAY he should own a home.
My son went to college for one semester and failed out, I think because he spent most of his time playing video games. He has a job now and rents an apartment. But he spends most of his off time playing video games, and rents an apartment that he hardly takes care of.
There's no WAY he should own a home.
The taxpayers should not be providing EITHER of them with a $120,000 down payment so they can own a home.
In a Capitalist system, you EARN what you get.
