Why is this important, assuming its accurate?

I know many Catholics personally - the majority of them, when they disagree with the Pope (and many do), do as they want in their personal life.

I doubt the Pope has the kind of influence that those of the past did.

Not being Catholic myself, I pretty much ignore him.
