that few seem to want to talk about is that racism is still a big problem in this country, and others. If it weren't, there would not be the problems with racial profiling and demonization of "illegal" immigrants that we see.

Minorities make convenient scapegoats for people who want to feel like they are better than or more entitled than those 'others'... because minorities generally can't or don't fight back.

This sad truth makes it all too convenient for the unscrupulous who would shamelessly play to and take advantage of that darker side of human nature, making it easier to inflame and sow hate and fear while capitalizing on, advancing, and/or hiding their own misdeeds, self aggrandizement and/or enrichment.
