In addition to our homegrown traitors, the nation has a plethora of enemies whose goal is ultimately to destroy democracy. Yet, with its many difficulties, democracy still remains the best form of government for those who want freedom. No other form of government has proved to be equal, much less superior.

Still, for democracy to survive it has to be supported by the strong moral character of its people. The decay of our character remains the worst threat. It enables failure on all fronts.
