As already pointed out, it would be new territory for the military. We do have many armed civilians (and criminals) who are in a better position to pick off soldiers from hiding spots. Knowing the terrain is a definite advantage.

What in the world the military is doing occupying a city is the first question that pops into my mind. A military presence in the cities, ordered there by one's own government, is very concerning. Of course, the military's first sworn duty is to defend the Constitution from enemies both domestic and foreign. They have a moral and legal obligation to disobey orders that are in direct violation of the Constitution. Whether that actually happens is anybody's guess, and not something that I would rely on.

The military isn't trained to do police work.

Criminals come in all different varieties. There's your garden type of street criminal who sometimes look like what they are, there's your criminals that wear suits and masquerade as something they are not pretending what they do, they do for the 'good of the people'. . . . .

I trust neither.
