Land and Machinery were reasonably priced. A person could actually fix a tractor themselves.

Corn was about $2. Seed corn $30. Fertilizer $30-$40. Corn is now around $4, Seed corn around $300, and fertilizer $600-$800. A person could actually make money, just like normal people.

Now, everything is regulated. Have to have license to spread fertilizer or spray. The government now can come on your land for just about any reason they want.

I was privileged to farm a few years back then. Now, it is just an expensive hobby. (unless you have cattle)
