NATO members pay only a fraction of what should be remitted for defense. This has been a bone of contention for a very long time. Your nemesis has taken the issue up with the members more than once. Given the stupidity of the Europeans and Canadians to set NATO right up to Russia’s front door, threatening Russian security, creating the Ukraine debacle, my guess is your nemesis sees the stupidly and wants nothing to do with NATO. It’s a liability. However, a US acquisition of Greenland would serve European security. And the US would pay the monetary costs. I mean, it’s not as if the US is going to use Greenland as an aggressive stepping stone against Europe.
