that virtually no one would want their mother, daughter, wife or sister to bleed out in a parking lot because of draconian abortion laws preventing them from getting lifesaving care when they need it.

And that is the crux of the matter between "pro life" and "pro choice" people. No matter how you feel about the 'rightness' or 'wrongness' of women having the right to choose an abortion for any reason, the fact will always remain that the issue is not something that can be legislated without placing those YOU love at risk.

I'd also say that most everyone believes in rights and protections for living, breathing people. But how many "pro life" people believe in protecting children or people who are hungry, homeless or need health care AFTER they are born?

I'd venture to say that hardly anyone is "pro life" for embryos or fetuses that are unwanted or endanger the lives of living, breathing people. Otherwise, you would see a lot more "pro life" people having as many children as they could possibly care for, or adopting as many orphans or "unwanted" children as they could, or at least supporting or advocating for government help with food, shelter and health care for all the living people (whether children or adults) who need it.

Very few people have or want to have as many children as they can possibly have or care for. However, there does seem to be a good number of people who like to judge the sexual activities or irresponsibility of OTHER people.
