Yep! Call me a geek and a nerd, because how many kids did you know who built a Van DeGraff generator for his Middle School Science Fair, and then a Seismograph the following year.(and designing a better graphing system)
As an Adult, this geek saw an old movie with Trebuchets being used in warfare. HEY! Wouldn't it be cool to build one? Yep...I spent the better part of a year designing it in my head (which contains a very capable organic computer)and building my own Trebuchet in my buddy's backyard.
The only thing digital about it was it's YouTube documentation.
All the while, I started using a computer to compile my genealogy and discovered some programs that worked in Fractal Landscape creation. Very mind numbing working with fractal offsets and various other equations to create an almost photographic image, but very satisfying. Won some meaningless awards, but I sold quite a few of them.
Now my computer endeavors have been directed toward 3D Printing and designing for the past 10 years. Quite fun. Cheap hobby, too. (and lucrative when I sell some of them) I've printed so many thousands of things that I can't even remember them all. I've truly become an Old Santa making toys in his workshop! (and yes, the beard is real)
🎅
I'll leave all that hard core computer shit to you kids who need it.
