The majority of the founding fathers who wrote the US Constitution and Bill of Rights were deists… meaning they did not believe in the Christian or Jewish God but that God was nature nature was God. And as God was nature there was no sense in praying or talking to nature as God.
The founding father who had the most impact on the US Constitution and Bill of Rights was Thomas Jefferson who said in his private letters he was an atheist.
George Washington: Kept his personal beliefs private, frequently using the term "Providence" rather than "God" in public addresses, and supported strict separation of church and state
Thomas Paine: Often considered the most radical of the era, Paine was a Deist who sharply criticized institutional Christianity and the Bible in The Age of Reason,
Ethan Allen: One of the few major figures from the revolutionary period to explicitly publish anti-Christian and deist works (such as Reason the Only Oracle of Man), though he still maintained a belief in an almighty creator
