Do these big heavy Electric Vehicles really have a "lower carbon footprint " than gas vehicles?

In Japan they have Kei trucks that only weigh about 1,500 pounds, but they are illegal in some US states.

Here in USA we have 9,200 pound Electric SUV's with 830 HP.

The new The New Dodge Charger EV is about 1,500 pounds heavier than the gas powered car it replaces.

...I have no confidence that the battery in a used EV - one that's, say, 5 years old - would last much longer.

And how much is it to replace a battery in one?

Now is a good time to get a good deal on used Tesla, but I realize they are not right for everyone.

The best way to save money is to keep your old car. Battery is the most expensive part of an EV. Battery is even more expensive than the motor. Battery gradually loses capacity over the years even if you don't drive it.

Some governments seemed obsessed with forcing EV's on everyone. EV's are not the only way to reduce CO2 emissions. Smaller cars are also a good way to reduce our carbon footprint.

I'm very happy with my EV, but I don't want to force them on others. They have advantages and disadvantages.

A lot of carbon released. Mostly dioxins. The greenies love to breathe it.

They demanded cars that don’t emit carbon. Now they burn them up. How ironic. Hypocrites.

No. There is no free lunch. Energy for charging batteries has to be generated by some source.

Let’s not avoid looking at those eco-disaster lithium mines. And the impending mountain of discarded batteries from all battery sources.

The CAR has nothing to do with the issue. It is the POWER SOURCE that is central to the issue.

Actually, the heavier weight of EVs is an issue.

the weight of the car is irrelevant. One CANNOT simply assume that all other factors are equal. The overall efficiency of energy conversion from source, transmission, battery recovery is the DOMINANT factor.

How much carbon dioxide is released when a Tesla is burned in protest?
