What is the big stink about Real ID?

I got mine years ago, the last time I renewed by drivers license.

I guess people can't do this like they do door dash. They really have to show up in person.

I think it's a good idea.

Greater confidence in the validity of documents with legal standing is a good thing. My Oregon DL has the Real ID option. Here in Japan, my Residence Card (Zairyu) would meet those standards, too. The issuance requirements are quite strict (as are all such things in Japan).

so I was thinking of updating my passport. It will have to wait till I can get a new photo. However, while pulling my hair out about the online mechanisms I checked NYS website. Turns out my enhanced license is considered real ID...

Mine has a state of Ohio in the corner with a star just to the left of it.

I has all the advantages of a RealID. Plus, it is like a passport card that will get you into Canada or Mexico by land or sea, but not air.

At least that is the way a NY enhanced license works.

Yes, I know the mantra about how this prevents crooks, thieves, and terrorists from hiding out with fake drivers licenses. The bizarre thing about this move to more ever increasing control of personal freedom is (The cause for creating DHS and TSA) the biggest con job in human history. Yes, that’s right……9/11. An exquisite Israeli/Zio operation that truly deserves respect for the planning and execution.

My specialty is conspiracies. I’m a Conspiracy Factualist. I do not expect 90% of your compatriots to get what went down with 9/11. But the offshoot of the con is REAL ID. Oh yes, and the so-called Patriot Act. My guess is you accept that act because you are a “patriot”. LOLS:-))))

My residence isn't in the US and within a year my citizenship won't be either.

In a way I’m jealous. I would emigrate too but for my age. Not because of WH occupants then nor now. A new adventure because I’m bored. Good luck.
