What is a "mortalist" ? ? and a "pro-mortalist" ??

According to merriam-webster:

Mortalist
noun
Mor·tal·ist
plural-s
: one who holds the soul to be mortal
specifically : a member of a 17th century English sect believing that the soul and body perished together at death and would be resurrected together.

In other words, when a person dies, their soul dies with them. So, wouldn't a pro-mortalist be someone who believes or supports that?

The guy who killed himself by blowing up a car at the IVF place, claimed to be a pro-mortalist. What am I missing here?

pro-mortalism is the belief that death is not inherently negative and may, in fact, be preferable to ongoing existence especially if that existence involves suffering.

I believe Bartkus described being “pro-mortalist” as intending to bring about their own death as soon as possible in order “to prevent your future suffering, and, more importantly, the suffering your existence will cause to all the other sentient beings.”

You're missing the fact that the self-defining can use any words they choose.

why the English language is so exquisitely nuanced. Latin is a dead language. Wonder why? Were this word-invention usage not utilized, we would still be communicating via grunts. It’s a play upon a formality. It either morphs or dies.
